Who we are

The Family is an international fellowship of Christian communities dedicated to sharing God’s love and Word with others. There are approximately 14,000 full time and associate adult volunteer members in The Family working out of 1,400 centres situated in over 100 countries. The Family is presently active in over half of the countries in Africa.

Blind children recieving new radiosWe seek to comfort, help, and minister to those in need; endeavouring to follow the model of Jesus, who said His ministry was to “preach the gospel to the poor … to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed (Luke 4:18).

Members of The Family take seriously their responsibility to be a living example of the Christian love they preach. Following the pattern of the earliest Christians, we maintain a cooperative lifestyle, sharing our material possessions, resources and responsibilities with one another.

Praying to recieve JesusOur goal is to help others come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and experience the joy, peace and fulfilment that comes from having the Lord and His Word in their daily lives.

Each Family community functions independently and determines its own goals, activities and projects.- Such projects include “The Mustard Seed” and The SON-SHINE Project in South Africa , “Les Enfants d’Abord” in Côte d’Ivoire, and “Family Care” in Nigeria, to name just a few.

Our humanitarian projects include disaster relief, help for refugees, HIV/AIDS awareness, medical camps, aid for the elderly and handicapped and special educational programmes such as adult literacy and teacher training. Family members have also produced a multitude of educational audio-visual materials that are used as resource materials throughout the world.

The Family has launched a Christian leadership-training programme called “Activated” which has, at its core, a comprehensive course of monthly magazines available by subscription. This is supplemented by classes, seminars and an array of other publications and audio/video/multimedia resources...
